About the Place - The Story of the First House in Metula
Where the history of Metula began, Hod Rishonim (The Glory of the Pioneers/First Ones) came to life, built from the stones of the historic home of Yocheved and Haim Moshe Fein – the first couple to arrive and settle the colony in 1896.
The original house collapsed in the 1980s, and its stones were buried in the ground. Years later, the house was completely reconstructed by Irit, the granddaughter of the colony's pioneers, in the original spirit and with great love for the place.
Hod Rishonim is an architectural gem designed to face the landscapes of the Upper Galilee and Mount Hermon, blending the old with the new, combining the local stone with the open view and the Galilean wood.
The reconstructed house preserves original architectural details alongside modern design touches, which incorporate wood, stone, iron, and warm Galilean light.
The place where time stops, and the past and present meet in perfect harmony.
